The sex-addicted Victor Mancini has abandoned his medical studies in order to be able to finance his mother Ida's stay in a private nursing home and mental institution. He earns money, on the one hand, as a performer in a recreated 18th century colony. In addition, he regularly fakes choking attacks in restaurants in order to be rescued and subsequently supported by wealthy people. Every evening he visits his mother, who no longer recognises him but thinks he is her lawyer. Once she tells him that her son should finally learn that his father is not a Norwegian travelling salesman, as she had always told him.
